Fattoria Public Market will be Santa Clara County’s First Year-Round Indoor Farmers Market and Regional Food Hub

Morgan Hill, CA – Agritourism is coming to the Southern Santa Clara County with the unanimous vote of the Morgan Hill City Council on November 15, 2023, to provide a long-term lease on 25+ acres of city-owned property. Fattoria Public Market won the support of the city and is the brainchild of Terra Amico Corporation owners, Joe and Lisa Raineri. “One of our main goals is to connect with our local food producers to create secure, healthy food systems for our community,” explains Joe Raineri, “and it will be a predictable environment, where farmers can increase their income, economically thrive and allow the South County’s agricultural history to continue into the future,” adds Lisa Raineri.

Fattoria (Italian for farm) Public Market will allow farmers, ranchers, and other local food producers to have a permanent location to distribute their goods directly to consumers and institutional buyers. It will serve as a Regional Food Hub, to advance local agriculture and agricultural start up endeavors. Amenities include an indoor public market, an outdoor canopy, indoor and outdoor event facilities, a farm to fork demonstration and tasting venue, an outdoor piazza, a wine and beer garden, and a co-op farm.

“Fattoria Public Market will blend various agricultural experiences under one roof, not to mention combining educational and tourism components as well. The council saw this opportunity as win for everyone,” states Morgan Hill Mayor Mark Turner.

Students will benefit from the planned educational programs and field trip opportunities to learn about the history of agriculture in the area as well as the future of farming. Climate smart farming will also be a key component of the space including Agrivoltaics -- a new form of solar energy for agricultural systems that can be demonstrated on-site. The project proposal has been a collaborative effort between Terra Amico Corporation and MultiStudio.

The anticipated opening of Fattoria Public Market is in the fall of 2026.
